“Keep your shito happy and it will keep you happy.”
Maa Vero

The shito that kept us in school.
Money was tight and school fees came first. However little was left for food, there was always gari, sugar and a jar of Maa's shito. This is the recipe that fed our family and anyone who came to our home.

How does delivery work, and how much is it?

Where do you deliver?
We deliver nationwide, across Ghana. Drop a pin on the map when you order, and we will arrange the delivery with you when we call to confirm.
How should I store my shito? Does it need a fridge?
No fridge needed. Always use a clean, dry spoon, scoop from the top without stirring, wipe the edges of the jar and close the lid tightly. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
How long does it last?
Up to 8 months. How long your shito keeps depends on how well you take care of it, so always use a clean, dry spoon, keep the lid tight and store it in a cool, dry place.
What is in it? Is it spicy?
Vegetable oil, shrimps, herrings, onion, tuna, African spices, chilli, ginger and garlic. Classic is Maa Vero's original recipe, with a proper Ghanaian pepper kick. See every ingredient on the Anatomy of Shito page.
Does it contain allergens? Is it vegetarian?
It contains fish and shellfish (shrimps, herrings and tuna), so it is not vegetarian or suitable for anyone with a fish or shellfish allergy.
